From 22nd to 24th June 2015 BERTIM project had its kick-off meeting in Bilbao at project coordinator TECNALIA facilities. The project team met face-to-face and discussed on the project ambition and objectives and its coordinated implementation, with tasks and assignments for the following months.
Strong scientific, technical, technological and manufacturing skills are combined in the well-balanced BERTIM team of 12 partners. They belong to six countries from the European Union (i.e. Denmark, France, Germany, Poland, Spain and Sweden). It is formed by all main type of institutions needed to cover the overall value chain of the project. The consortium consists of RTOs (research technology organizations), SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) and large companies with a great experience. The organization of the consortium in made by geo-clusters. In order to assure replicability the project results the consortium is organized in around three timber manufacturers, one in the South of Europe (Spain) one in Central Europe (France) and the third one in the North of Europe (Sweden). Each industry will be supported by a research centre experts in construction in wood but with their own distinguishing capabilities. Some partners provide a transversal knowledge for the geo-cluster partners (as they are experts i.a. in mass manufacturing, in construction in wood, in dissemination, providing business models and exploitation and software development).

Paper entitled “Full scale experimental performance assessment of a prefabricated timber panel for the energy retrofitting of multi-rise buildings” will be presented at the CISBAT 2017 International Conference – Future Buildings & Districts – Energy Efficiency from Nano to Urban Scale. The conference will be held from 6 to 8 September in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Focused on energy efficiency and the use of solar energy in the built environment, CISBAT offers a dynamic international platform for scientific exchange in fields ranging from nanostructured materials for renewable energy applications to urban energy systems. The organizers received 366 submissions for this years' conference, which promise a rich and varied program.
